A Taste of the Lake District

School and
Educational Visits
At Howbeck Lodge, we believe in bringing education to life. For over 20 years, we’ve been welcoming children to our working farm to experience the countryside firsthand. Our award-winning outdoor education program is designed to teach them about 21st-century farming, showing them where their food comes from and the vital connection between the land and the food on their plates.
Children will get hands-on experience with our diverse farm, home to sheep, beef cattle, arable crops, pigs, and egg-laying hens. It’s a fun, interactive way for them to learn about modern agriculture and the journey of food from farm to fork.

Come to Howbeck Lodge for a special farm tour and lunch experience with Christine. You’ll spend a few hours exploring authentic Cumbrian farm life, getting up close with some of our friendly farm animals and taking in the full farm life experience in the beautiful setting of the Lake District. This is a working farm and on the day of the visit activities will be organised according to the weather, the seasons and what is going on around the farm at the time of the visit.
After your tour, relax and enjoy a traditional homemade afternoon tea, a perfect way to round off a memorable day in the countryside.
